The Shining is still probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. The old lady in the tub ... the twins ... *shivers*. Poltergeist runs a close 2nd, though.

The form wouldn't let me enter everything in the little boxes, but I'm @123turtles on Twitter and I have liked you on Facebook. I was able to paste the link where I tweeted about the giveaway.

Like someone else, I tried to answer the question but was unable to do it properly. I am going to buck the classic movie trend (even though I do heart The Exorcist). I was very scared when I recently watched The Haunting in Connecticut. I feel like there are actually a lot of common "scare" elements between that movie and the EIT books--ie fright from more psychological, or suspense oriented scares, rather than gross or psychotic ones. Also a kind of questioning--is what I am seeing real, or the product of medication or a mental break?--that is not answered until it's too late to avoid the consequences of self doubt.

The only movie to ever give me nightmares was Event Horizon. I don't know what it was about the movie, but it scared the crap out of me. I still love watching it even at the risk of having a nightmare. I consider myself a horror movie fanatic. I've watched all sorts, from the classic slashers, to the found footage to gore fests, it takes a lot to really scare me.

well i wanted to answer the question above to enter the contest but it didn't work so i figured i'd answer here...

so my first thought was the exorcist, i remember that i watched it my sophomore year of college...alone...in my dormroom...with all the lights off...apparently i was an idiot! my roommate came home and found me huddled under my comforter with only a little opening to see through with the movie on and a box of mallomars in front of me...

but then i remembered the first time i saw the blair witch project...i had gotten a rough cut of the film and my boyfriend was visiting so we started watching it the last night he was in town around 11 or midnight...and when it was done we went to bed and the next day he left and that night, i had to sleep with all the lights on in my room because i was still completely freaked out by the movie!

so for me, i think that the blair witch project might be my most terrifying movie...
